Burglary and booze don’t mix, as one Russian robber recently discovered the hard way.
Authorities say the alleged thief, was in the middle of robbing a house when he saw a bottle of vodka that he couldn’t keep his hands off of.
Apparently, that was a not so good decision because after a few shots, the ever so intelligent suspect fell asleep on the bed and was still snoozing when the homeowners got back home. Needless to say, it was a rude awakening for the robber, but he could have plenty of chances to catch up on his zzz’s since authorities say he could spend up to 10 years in jail.

Discussion Point! : We have all done something "crazy" or "stupid" when were are drunk haven’t we? What was the "dumbest" thing you have ever done after having a little too much to drink?
Bullying has always been an issue in the public education system in Japan, with stories in the news about students being bullied and about their harming or killing themselves or others.
Now that it’s getting out of hand, if it isn’t already, the ministry wants to set up a task force to combat bullying. Just more of the same bureaucratic red tape and secrecy that envelopes every entity in Japan.
How about holding schools, teachers, and students accountable and responsible. When a child is being bullied, there are obvious markers such as change in behavior, attitude, school performance, etc. We are quick to brush things under the rug, turn a blind eye and pretend things are not occurring or not as bad as it seems.
While we may not get every instance of bullying that occurs, when the adults are held accountable for the behavior, discipline, and moral conduct of their charges, change will occur.
Discussion Point! : Do you think adults should be held responsible for bullying? What experiences of bullying have you experienced in your life? How did you or your parents deal with it?

The global team are meeting again to followup on their teleconference meeting held last month. However, this time, they are having their meeting at corporate headquarters in New York.
Simon:
Good morning all. Nice to have everyone in my neck of the woods for a change.
John:
Gosh! How can you be so upbeat this early? I am so jetlagged.
Hiroko:
Luckily for Xinlai and I, we got in two days ago so we got plenty of shuteye to recuperate. You boys need to learn a thing or two about traveling from us.
Xinlai:
I can’t believe I crashed in the room for over 12 hours! At least I don’t look as terrible as John. No offense John…
John:
No offense taken Xinlai. I would have gotten in earlier but I missed my connection due to my flight from Singapore being delayed. Oh well, at least the airline compensated me with 10,000 miles for the trouble after I complained.
Simon:
Wow, I need to complain more often. That is a sweet deal!
Hiroko:
Speaking of deals, bring me up to speed on our suppliers Xinlai. Give me the 411…
Xinlai:
Well, I have good news and bad news… I was able to nudge the suppliers to get the needed parts to our manufacturers on time which should allow us to launch our product by next month at the latest… um…
Here is the rub.. Some parts have failed quality inspection but the supplier has promised to send replacements by the end of the month.
Simon:
What do you mean by "failed" quality inspection? Are they completely bad in that our products will not operate properly?
Xinlai:
Um.. The products will work but under some extreme conditions, the product will need to be rebooted. Our quality assurance team thinks it is a glitch that could be resolved with a software update.
Hiroko:
Any ideas people? What options do we have on the table?
John:
I say we bite the bullet and launch the products before our competitors. I understand you may disagree Hiroko but I feel first to market creates marketing buzz. This will push the image that our company is cutting edge.
Hiroko:
What is your take, Simon?
Simon:
I feel as long as the product has no safety concerns and the issue can be eliminated through software updates, we should push ahead.
Hiroko:
I don’t like the idea people.. It would be my job on the line if this turns sour. However, I will go against my better judgement and keep our launch as planned. Xinlai, you need to get absolute confirmation from our suppliers and quality assurance that this can definitely be solved through updates!

NEW! – If you found out that your child was being bullied, how would you resolve it?
(Robert U.S. 38y.o. ): In all honestly, I think every child should learn to deal with bullying and teasing by learning to defend themselves. If I were to learn that my own son was being harassed or bullied in school, I would definitely ask him how many other students were instigating the situation and if the situation involved emotional or physical attacks.
If it were the latter, I would then tell him to gather his friends together and fight back. I believe most bullies and their "followers" usually go after people who they perceive are weak. If children confront and stand their ground, it will teach them to be strong and independent. This was the way I was taught growing up and I am a firm believer of this method.
(Stephanie Australia 26y.o. ): I am not going to say that Robert’s parenting style is right or wrong as all parents have their own methods in dealing with this. However, I would definitely try a different approach. Maybe I am naive in attempting to resolve this since I have no children of my own, but here is what I would do.
Firstly, I would talk with my child if he/she comes to me and informs me of the bullying. I need to get a firm understanding of what is happening and the reasons it may be occurring. Then, I would try to have a direct meeting with the teacher and the bully’s parents if possible. I feel most parents are concerned about this issue and will usually try to nip this in the bud whether their child is the bully or the receiver of bullying. I am a strong advocate in settling all disputes/problems with dialogue rather than violence or confrontation.
(What do you think? : Discuss with your teacher and share your thoughts on how you would deal with bullying should your child experience it. Find out how bullying is either similar/different in Japan and other countries)
