India will be world’s most populous nation this year, overtaking China, says UN
India will overtake China as the world’s most populous nation by the middle of the year, with an estimated population of 1.4286 billion, according to data released on April 19 by the United Nations.
The figure comes from the “State of World Population Report 2023,” by the United Nations Population Fund.
The estimated population for India puts it about 3 million higher than China’s estimated 1.4257 billion.
The report estimates that the world’s population will be 8.045 billion. Together, India and China account for more than a third of that figure. However, population growth in both countries has been slowing.
India’s annual population growth has averaged 1.2% since 2011, down from 1.7% in the previous decade, Indian government data shows. Japan’s population is estimated at 123.3 million.

Anime, managa piracy caused 2 Trillion yen loss in 2021
Online piracy pf Japanese entertainment, including manga, anime and video games, caused losses of around 2 trillion dollars in 2021, making a fivefold increase from 2019, according to a study by a Tokyo based watchdog.
The Content Overseas Distribution Association believes the sharp rise was attributed to people spending more time indoors on entertainment content during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as greater uptake of streaming services.
Seeking to thwart copyright infringement of Japanese media content, the association was founded in 2002 with support from the trade ministry and the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

The Magic Of Self-Confidence
Once there was a business executive who was sunken in debt and could see no way out. Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment.
He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from insolvency.Suddenly an old man appeared before him.
“I can see that something is worrying you,” he said.
After listening to the executive's woes, the old man said: “I believe I can help you.” He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”
Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.
The business executive saw in his hand a check for $100,000, signed by Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest men in the world at that time!
“I can erase my money problems in an instant!” he realized
But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe.Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.
With revived hope, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.
