彼の説明から社内食堂について多くのことを知りました　といいたい場合：
From his explanation, I knew many things about the company’s food court.
From his explanation, I found out many things about the food court.

このように、find outは知らなかった事を「見いだす」「発見する」際に使用します。
Knowは、以前から知っていたあるいは理解していた事について言い、「発見する」という意味は含まれないのです。
